Deputies of local councils will not support increase
of gas and energy tariffs, and the Cabinet of Ministers will get a tough opposition
in their person, as Luhansk mayor Serhiy Kravchenko declared during the meeting
with journalists.
He reminded that last Friday, during the meeting of mayors with Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov and ministers, it was a question of that local authorities had to approve tariff increase without further compensation of tariff difference from the budget.
According to Kravchenko, territorial governors understand that economic issues cannot be solved at the expense of population; if tariffs increase, than salaries must increase as well. Additionally, the decision on tariff increase should be made at Cabinet’s level, but not at the level of local councils; and in this case the state must pay damages to regions.
