In Bucharest, Victor Yushchenko said he expected the newly established Black Sea Forum “For Dialogue and Partnership” to help implement specific security and energy projects, President's press office reported.

“We have all witnessed a successful start [of this organization] on the path to real hope and cooperation of the Black Sea states and we appreciate that Ukraine supports such a forum,” he said at a meeting with Romanian President Traian Basescu.

In his turn, Mr. Basescu characterized BSF as “a bridge helping such countries as Ukraine join the European Union and contributing to Euro-Atlantic cooperation.”

When speaking about projects that could be implemented by the forum, the President of Ukraine said: “I would like these projects to focus on security and energy issues, which are so important for the region.”

Mr. Yushchenko said one of the major goals of the forum was to carry out regional initiatives in order to help its participants integrate with EU.
