The Public Council on Observance of the Human Rights in the penitentiary establishments attached to the Justice Ministry of Ukraine has been finally formed, the press office of the Ministry informs.

The Public Council consists of the representatives of the following non-governmental organisations: Kharkiv Human Rights Group, the International society of Human Rights – Ukrainian Section, Vinnitsa Human Rights Group, Chernihiv Women’s Human Rights Centre, Luhansk Public Committee on Citizens’ Constitutional Rights Protection, Dobrochyn Public Organisation, Ukraine-US Bureau on Human Rights Protection, Vidrodzhennya the International Fund, the Public Organisation “Human Rights Have NO Borders,” Ukrainian-Helsinki Human Rights Union, the public organisation “Social Defender,” Pravozashchitnik Mykolayv Regional Human Rights Committee, Ukrainian Penitentiary Society, Donetsk Memorial, the Protection of Human Rights Fund, Emuna, the Legal Initiative, the Rehabilitation charitable fund, the Institute of the Applied Humanitarian Research.

Oleksandr Betsa, the representative of Vidrodzhennya, has been commissioned a Chairman of the newly formed Public Council.

The Public Council welcomes interested citizens to take part in the work of the organisation.
