On May 17, 2006 Borys Tarasyuk, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine met with John E. Herbst, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary US Ambassador to Ukraine, who is finishing his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
In the course of the meeting Ukraine's Minister Tarasyuk stressed that during three years of the US Ambassador’s work in Ukraine he had chance to observe interesting moments of the modern history of our country as well as to contribute considerably into the building on of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States of America.
The Minister also pointed to significant improvement of general ground of bilateral relations and such positive shifts as signing of bilateral protocol on accession to the markets of goods and services, granting of the market economy status for trade defence to Ukraine, lifting of the trade sanctions as well as graduation of the Jackson-Vanik amendment from Ukraine.
The Head of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed gratitude to Mr. Herbst for his considerable contribution into the building on of the Ukrainian-American relations, deepening of trade, economic and investment cooperation. He wished him every success on his new post.
