Kirovohrad medical experts report about TB reduction within the region. It is the first time over the last ten years, the Kyrovohrad TB Centre Head Physician Yuri Pokalyukhin told at the pres conference.
According to his words, in 2005 the number of TB-infected grown-ups has been reduced by 18% and TB-infected children - by 25%in comparison with the previous year.
“Nevertheless, the epidemic situation is still tense,” mentioned Pokalyukhin.
During 195-2005 the numbers of TB cases increased by 90%, death from TB – by 120%. According to social structure, there are 57% of able-bodied nonworkers and 11% of pensioners.
“Due to financial aid of the regional and state budgets, Kyrovohrad has bought three modern digital mobile photofluorographic units in the amount of $76,000 apiece. It has improved the diagnostics and prevention of TB and cancer at early stages,” stressed the Head Physician Pokalyukhin.
