Two seriously ill children living in Cherkasy will be operated on by German cardio surgeons, Cherkasy Regional Administration press office reported. Ukraine-Germany Committee attached to Children Hearts Medical Program is commissioned with choice and referral to the operative treatment of ill children.
According to the program, the patients must have medical testimony of Kyiv Cardiology Institute about the defects of interatrial septum or ventricular septum. There is a limitation in patients’ age – 8-12 years only. The important condition is the preoperative preparation of the patient.
Over 1,000 children suffer from serious cardiac problems in Cherkasy region. 130 little patients need operative treatment. Since 1994 German surgeons have operated on 14 little Ukrainians within the framework of the Children Hearts Medical Program. All operations had positive results.
