Two violin-playing sisters from the mountains of Valdres have been invited to be soloists with The National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kiev.

Ragnhild (age 18) and Eldbjørg (16) Hemsing hail from Aurdal in Valdres and are both students at the prestigious Oslo music school, Barrat Due Musikkinstitutt, Aftenposten informs.

They have a long list of honors and prizes behind them, and now they've been asked to play with Ukraine's top orchestra on Friday May 26.

The program that evening includes music by Mozart and two Norwegian composers, Christian Sinding and Arne Nordheim. Nordheim's violin concerto from 1997 has never been performed in Ukraine before, and Ragnhild Hemsing will perform solo.

The two sisters will also play together during the concert. It's not the first time they've been on stage in Kiev. They also were there in 2002 and 2004.
