May 10,Ukrainian delegation headed by the First Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy Yuri Prodan paid the working visit to Afghanistan, the Fuel and Energy Ministry press office informed.
Ukrainian delegation held meetings with the Afghan Minister of Water and Energy Ismail Khan, Minister for Natural Resources Adele and the directorate of the Chamber of Commerce attached to the Afghan Ministry of Commerce.
In the course of the meetings, the parties negotiated over the issues related to the cooperation within the oil, gas and energy spheres, construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan gas pipeline including Ukraine’s participation in it, the development trends of Ukrainian fuel and energy complex and reconstruction of hydroelectric power stations and electric mains in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan agreed to provide Ukraine with in-depth information concerning the terms for Ukrainian companies to participate in the exploration of the oil and gas fields in Afghanistan.
As a result of the visit, the parties reached the agreement on continuation of Ukraine-Afghanistan Energy Dialogue within the framework of the business-forum scheduled on the second half of 2006, during the visit of the President Afghanistan Hamid Karzai in Ukraine.
