President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has requested Austrian Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel to promote the settlement of the problem with Ukrainian seamless pipe export to the European Union, Iryna Herashchenko the President’s Press Secretary told.
According to her words, President Yushchenko pointed out the fact that Ukraine’s market economy status has been recognized by the EU and such restrictions “do not quite correspond with it.”
The President of Ukraine believes that Austria presiding over the EU will properly take into consideration Ukraine’s arguments and foster unbiased and objective decision by the European Commission on this issue.
