The target of the meeting is to consider the situation with the regional status of the Russian language in Luhansk, Kharkiv and Sevastopol Regional Councils.
“The President deeply concerns over these parades of the sovereignties and regards these acts as mostly practicing on local authorities,” said Herashchenko.
She also has informed that the President sent corresponding letters for some of the state officials, particularly to Prosecutor General Medvedko. President Yushchenko urges him to take proper account of Ukraine’s Justice Ministry resolution on this matter and to assume the corresponding measures. The letters to PM Yekhanurov and Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Tarasyuk are related to the same matter.
As a reminder, Ukraine’s Justice Ministry recognized that the resolutions of Kharkiv, Luhansk and Sevastopol Regional Councils violated the Constitution of Ukraine.
