They were 27-year-old Sergei Tsevan and 37-year-old Anton Pavlov, both originally from Ukraine, Unison informed.
The third victim was a 27-year-old Frenchman Jean de Quatrebarbes.
The accident happened just after 4am between Carlow town and Castledermot.
Two other people, including the driver of the other car, were also seriously injured in the crash.
