May 3, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Tarasyuk met Japanese delegation headed by Hakuo Yanagisawa, the Chairman of Ukraine-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Association.

In the course of the discussion, the parties discussed the wide range of issues related to the bilateral cooperation, the ways of consolidation of the political dialogue and the practical realization of economic and humanitarian potential of two countries.

The main attention was focused on the implementation of the agreements which were reached during the visit of Ukraine’s President Yushchenko in July of 2005. The visit’s time frames of the Foreign Minister Taro Aso and PM Junichiro Koizumi to Ukraine were also under discussion.

The interlocutors agreed on creation of Ukraine-Japan Committee on Cooperation at the level of the Foreign Ministries.

Foreign Minister Tarasyuk on behalf of Ukraine highly estimated technical and grant aid which Japan provides for the country. Tarasyuk expressed special thanks for Japanese government’s efforts aimed at the liquidation of the Chornobyl aftermath in Ukraine.
