Kateryna Yushchenko had become known about Chornobyl disaster 20 years ago

Opening the international humanitarian forum “Renaissance, renovation and development of a man” Kateryna Yushchenko reported that she had become known about Chornobyl disaster 20 years ago, when she was studying in the Chicago University, ForUm’s correspondent informed.

Her opening address the first lady of Ukraine started in English, and then, having switched to Ukrainian, she pointed out the necessity to learn important lessons from Chornobyl disaster.

Kateryna Yushchenko stated four drawn lessons. The first one is to tell the truth, the second – to abandon egoistic perception of the world while satisfying current needs. “Making strategic decisions about development we should regard interests of future generations,” underlined Yushchenko.

According to her, the third learned lesson is that catastrophes give information about breach of balance of development. “We need to learn to maintain balance of harmonious evolution,” considers Ukraine’s President’s wife.

The fourth lesson is that a single country or a people are incapable to solve a global problem on its own

Finishing her speech Katerina Yushchenko noted that stork is the symbol of the humanitarian forum, and reminded that storks settle near houses of kind people. “This year storks again came to Ukraine,” said Yushchenko and wished storks come to other countries as well.
