The EU intends to approve of visa fee increase but the countries-neighbours may be granted an exception. The current ?35 is to be scaled up to ?60.
The new terms will come into effect in the beginning of 2007. The changes will not apply to Ukraine, Belarus and Balkans countries.
It is France which has initiated the fee increase. It is caused by introduction of new admission system on its frontier which needs additional funds. The final decision will be passed on April 27-28.
