The National Program for Armament and Equipment Development of Ukraine’s Armed Forces plans to spend about $1.26 milliard for development and purchase of armament and equipment by 2009. The Department Director Volodymyr Hrek revealed it Friday before the representatives of the military-diplomatic corps accredited in Ukraine.

Representing the State Program, Hrek noted that it is a middle-termed document aimed at implementation of the complex measures within the sphere of development and purchase new and modernization of the existed types of armaments for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Joint Quick Reaction Forces especially.

The program provides for achievement of positive results within the following spheres: automatic information control and communication systems, radio-electronic counter strike of precision weapon, perfection of navigation equipment, anti-tank rocket complexes and artillery, anti-aircraft equipment and armament, aviation and the Navy.
