Victor Yushchenko has met with Secretariat Chief-of-Staff Oleh Rybachuk, Crimea’s Prosecutor General Victor Shemchuk, Crimean Security Chief Victor Kozhelyanko, and Crimean Interior Head Volodymyr Khomenko, President's press office reported.

They discussed ways to reduce the threat of social confrontation, fight criminality and corruption, and improve land relations on the peninsula. The Head of State said Crimea’s law enforcement agencies must first root out corruption and added that he was convinced “criminals will surely be punished.”

The President emphasized the important role that they play in settling problems and ensuring the region’s dynamic development.

He requested the participants of the meeting to work out a plan to fight corruption in 2006 and check the current state of the fishing industry. Mr. Yushchenko also asked them to work publicly.
