Victor Yushchenko has sent a letter to Pope Benedict XVI on the first anniversary of his pontificate, President's press office reported.
“The beginning of your pontificate has been a proof of your inexhaustible effort to strengthen peace and justice, protect life, and eradicate extreme poverty and hunger in all regions of the world. Millions of my compatriots support and appreciate your noble mission,” he wrote.
The Chief of State also thanked the Pope for blessing Ukraine in its desire to develop and integrate with the European Union.
