In a recent interview to El País , Victor Yushchenko claimed that Ukraine would be Europe’s reliable partner to transport Russian gas. He saidourgovernmenthad intensified consultations with EU to adaptthe country'sgas transport system to the European energy market.
The President added that all statesdepending on energy monopolists hoped to diversify their energy supplies, the president press office informs.
“However, I think if Ukraine and Russia could settle their market relations in the field of energy, this would reaffirm our desire to provide energy services in Europe,” he said and added that Ukraine was also ready to transport gas from Central Asia to Europe.
