Nigeria and Ukraine have commenced a collaborative engagement aimed at advancing the development of space technology in both countries, This Day informs.
The partnership will see the two countries exchange study visits with a view to using the opportunity offered by such visits to harmonise ideas for improved economic benefits.
A statement by the head of Corporate Affairs at National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA),
Mr Felix Ale, quoted the Director-General, Professor Robert Boroffice, during a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Ukraine, Oleh Skoropad, as saying that Nigeria intends to excel in the field of space technology. According to him, space technology serves "as a catalyst for human development and is of great significance to the socio-economic emancipation of any society."
Boroffice said considering the enormous support the Federal Government is giving to the organisation, which is unprecedented in its history.
He said it was in recognition of this fact that the agency has been making contacts with some developed countries in different parts of the world, to actualise the desired goals.
 
He said the country has a lot to learn from the experiences of Ukraine in pursuance of its noble objectives for increased technological advancement and economic innovation, adding that a similar partnership engagement is on between the agency and other countries in Europe and America.
Skoropad, in his speech at the event, described Nigeria as a great nation in Africa, which Ukraine will always take delight in supporting at any point in time.
