President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko met with leaders of parties and blocs, which won seats in the Parliament, and congratulated them with the victory, as declared Irina Gerashchenko, press secretary of the President.

In Yushchenko’s opinion, elections demonstrated political structure of the society. The President expressed hope for fence-mending with new elected Parliament and noted that he intended to cooperate with opposition.

During the meeting Yushchenko proposed to discuss issues of modernization of political council attached to the President, which would allow to unite majority and opposition in the name of effective cooperation for the sake of Ukraine.

As Yushchenko said, the important thing was that the parliamentary elections had been acknowledged as democratic by international observers. He also noted that “60% of new people had won seats in the Verkhovna Rada, which gave a hope for conduct of system changes.”
