April 1-6, the Ukrainian governmental delegation headed by Health Minister Polyachenko paid the official visit to Cuba. The main target of the visit was a participation in events dedicated to the 20th Chernobyl Anniversary, Ukraine’s Health Ministry press office reported.
In the course of the visit, Polyachenko delivered to Cuba’s Fidel Castro the personal address of the President of Ukraine Yushchenko. Ukrainian President expressed his thanks to Cuban people for inestimable contribution into the humanitarian aid addressed to Ukrainian children suffered from Chernobyl disaster. Cuba has carried out this program during the last sixteen years.
Ukraine’s Minister of Health Polyachenko met his Cuban counterpart Ernandes, Minister of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation Marta Lomas, Vice President Jaime Crombet Hernandez-Baquero of the National Assembly of People's Power and other Cuban medical institutions.
Polyachenko also visited Tarara Health Centre where Ukrainian children undergo a course of treatment and recovery. There was the special scientific conference held in the centre. The new approaches of cure, modern medical facilities and perfection of existed methods of treatment were discussed by the participants of the conference.
