Today the International Relations Institute of Kyiv Shevchenko’s National University hosted Sandra Elizabeth Rulofs, the First Lady of Georgia, who represented her book “The First Lady of Georgia. The Idealist’s Story.” The book is published in Ukrainian.

“My book is about Ukraine and Kyiv. My husband studied here. That is why I have chosen his alma mater for the representation of the book. It inspired me to get more familiar with the capital of Ukraine. Mikheil always says Kyiv is his native city,” said Mrs. Rulofs. She visited Kyiv several times.

Her book tells about her youth age, the first visit in Georgia, the first meeting and marriage with Mikheil Saakashvili, their life in New York and Rose Revolution. “I want to tell how I came to Georgia,” explained Sandra Rulofs.

The author thanked all people who took part in this event, and Kateryna Yushchenko, especially. The First Lady of Ukraine wrote the introduction of Sandra’s autobiography.

“The publication of my friend’s book – clever, kind, generous Sandra Rulofs – is great pleasure for me. I am especially delighted it is in Ukrainian. We talked yesterday and I said Sandra: it is your third Motherland. The first one is the Netherlands, the second is Georgia… And I know she felt in love with Ukraine,” revealed Mrs. Yushchenko.

The First Lady of Ukraine gave Sandra Rulofs two books – “Ukrainian women in History” and “The Masters of Our Art” - as a keepsake.

The presentation ends the Year of Georgia in Ukraine.
