Youth, Family and Sport Minister of Ukraine Yuri Pavlenko and Danish Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Uffe Andersson Balslev represent Counteraction Program against human trafficking in Eastern Europe. The program is initiated by the government of Denmark, Ukraine Ministry of Youth, Family and Sport informed.
The main target of the program is to consolidate efforts of international, civil organizations and the governmental structures of Ukraine aimed at total extermination of the modern slavery.
The program will be implemented for the next three years and be a part of the Danish general program for the countries-neighbours of the EU. Its budget makes $4 mln. Denmark’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs will finance the program.
Ukraine commits all obligations for counteracting of the human trafficking, Minister Pavlenko reported. According to the recent statistic data, the law enforcement agencies arrested 415 criminals linked with the human trafficking, 446 victims were back to Ukraine and the activity of 37 organized criminal groups was seized in 2005. Over 180 channels of human trafficking were liquidated, Pavlenko concluded.
