U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has called Victor Yushcehnko, the press office informed.
Yushchenko said his government had spared no effort to make the March 26 vote truly democratic and added that preliminary results of the electionsconfirmed Ukraine’s determination to join the European Union.
When speaking about the new parliament, the Head of State assured the vice president that he would cooperate withboth a parliamentary majority and opposition forces.
Yushchenko and Mr. Cheney also discussed cooperation between the two countries. The Presidentthanked the United States for repealing the Jackson-Vanik amendment and recognizing Ukraine as a market economy.
