Ex-Chancellor Schroder, the Head of North European Pipeline Stockholders’ Committee, reckons it is quite pointless to state that the pipeline construction may somehow infringe the interests of Poland and Ukraine.
“You know about the brisk demand for natural gas not only in Germany but in all over Europe. That is why it is very important to build this pipeline,” said Mr. Schroder at Gazprom press conference.
“It will guarantee the reliability of gas supply in Europe and all discussions over Poland’s or Ukraine’s interests are incorrect,” noted former chancellor of German.
He stressed the North European Pipeline “is in interests of Germany and the whole Europe.”
The first network of the project is planned to be launched in 2010.
