The President decree of March 21 approved of Ukrainian Ambassador in Russia appointment. Oleh Dyomin was appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Russia.

Before President’s departure for Ternopol region, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko and newly appointed diplomat discussed the main trends of the Embassy’s functions. Speaking at the briefing, Dyomin characterized the discussion as “a general talk  with the common approaches of strategic character.” The main attention was paid to the issues relating to the development of Russia-Ukraine relationship and the pressing questions of its kind. Yushchenko-Putin Commission functioning is the issue of the great importance, Dyomin told.

In the diplomat’s opinion, the Embassy’s key target is to have Russian confidence and to organize work the way it will benefit bilateral ties. Concerning his own departure for Moscow, Dyomin said it is a question of few weeks.
