RBC Information Systems (RTS, MICEX: RBCI), Russia's leading media and IT group, announces the launch of an information agency in Ukraine (www.rbc.ua), which will cover economic, financial and relevant political events in the country, as well as provide analysis and financial data, TMCnet reported.

RBC is interested in expanding to Ukraine due to the proximity and a high economic integration between the countries. Building on RBC's strong brand in Russia and other CIS countries, the company decided to offer localized news to the growing Ukrainian business audience.

RBC Ukraine has 60 employees, with many highly professional reporters among them, and plans to increase the staff to 100 within one year. RBC hopes to achieve significant synergy between its media business in Russia and the Ukrainian project by bringing in its own technology and software, as well as its unique managerial skills in the implementation of high-quality information projects.

In April, RBC is also planning to launch the daily online newspaper Utro-Ukraina (Morning Ukraine) to broadly cover Ukrainian public, cultural and political events. Gradually, RBC will roll out other Internet projects, which have proved successful in Russia.

RBC Ukraine's main goal is to gain its audience's loyalty in the first two years of operation. The business model of the project is based on advertising revenues.
