On March 13, Union of Transdniester Defenders non-governmental organization appealed to the president of Ukraine, its parliament and the people. “We are deeply concerned by latest acts of Ukraine. They allowed to Moldova authorities fulfilling an old plan – to organize Transdniester economic blockade. The Republic of Moldova repeatedly made various steps against Transdniester. But they were stopped by state-guarantors. Now, situation has changed. Ukraine leaves role of state-guarantor and becomes side, which presses Transdniester,” says the appeal, REGNUM informs.

The Defenders’ Union mentions that Moldavian-Transdniestrian relations may be settled only on fair basis. “We will never agree with liquidation of our republic. Either honest fair talks or no ones at all are needed,” as stressed in the appeal.

The Union of Transdniester Defenders appeals to Kiev to return to guarantor’s status in process of Transdniester settlement, as well as to observance of all documents, signed earlier. First of all, in the appeal Moscow memorandum of 1997 is pointed out, signed among others by Ukraine too. Transdniester defenders, as well as veterans of 1992 war will continue to protest non-stop near Ukrainian border", says the appeal.
