Ukraine and the Netherlands intend to intensify cooperation in the energy sphere, Foreign Ministry spokesman Vasyl Filipchuk told referring to the meeting of Foreign Minister Tarasyuk and Dutch First Vice-Pm Garrit Zalm.

March 8, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Tarasyuk and Dutch Vice-Pm Zalm held the meting and agreed on ratification of the Memorandum on Cooperation in the Energy Sphere. The sides intend to intensify work on draft memorandum and energy saving technology projects.

Mr. Zalm noted the Dutch companies to participate in gas-field development and gas production in Ukraine.

In the course of the meeting, the representatives of two countries discussed internal political situation in Ukraine, steps of Ukrainian government aimed at creation of the favourable climate for foreign investment. The great attention was also paid to the visit of the President of Ukraine which has been scheduled for June. The participants underlined the importance of meeting between Ukraine’s President and Dutch business elite.
