Kateryna Yushchenko, Head of the Supervisory Council of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, Humanitarian Premier, Kseniya Lyapina, MP, and Kateryna Levchenko, La Strada-Ukraine President, took part in a roundtable on Ukrainian women’s role in modern history, the President press office reported.

More than eighty women that contributed to the development of culture, art, education, business, medicine, community and politics attended the meeting.

In her opening speech, Mrs. Yushchenko said they wanted to discuss issues “that are important to the women and all citizens of Ukraine.”

“There are 27 million women in Ukraine and we are also worried about employment, education, health care and economic development,” she said.

The President’s wife opined that the women should unite in order to successfully achieve these goals.

“Together we can do lots of things, for we all strive to make our country prosperous and civilized. Despite our regional differences, we all want to make it a better place to live for little children and old people,” she said.

They focused their attention on finding ways to carry out policies that correspond to the growing role of women, combine a successful career with having a happy family and protect women’s rights.

Following the roundtable, its participants attended a concert at the National Opera House.
