
President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko asked the government to take additional measures against possible flood damage this spring, the President press office reported.
“I am aware of all efforts the government is making tostop this danger,” the President wrote in his letter to the cabinet.
However, frozen soils and this week’s heavy snowfallforce the government adopt additional measures, he continued. The Chief of State also said central and local government must cooperate and keep society informed of all measures they take.
“The government must act professionally and resolutely to protect the people and property against flood damage,” he added.
