The EU and Ukrainian delegations reckon the draft agreement on repatriation of illegal migrants need additional consideration because of the divergence of the views.
The parties have finally reached the agreement on article 2 in Ukrainian edition. It regards the repatriation of Ukrainian and EU citizens.
Ukrainian and European participants fail to agree on the article 3 concerning the repatriation of citizens from third countries. Ukraine defends its principal standpoint – only travel documents of the country of origin may determine the citizenship of the foreigners from the third countries.
In the course of the meeting, the participants thoroughly analysed the chapter 1 of the article 8 on the timetables of common and urgent repatriation.
The next round of the negotiations will be held in March 2006.
