Today, Victor Yushchenko will attend a requiem for Oleksandr Shalimov, Ukraine’s prominent surgeon, at the National Academy of Sciences.
He died on February 28 at the age of 89 and will be buried today at Baikovy Cemetery. Shalimov is considered to be the founder of the Ukrainian surgical school. He performed over forty thousand surgeries, the President press service informs .
