At a press conference after his meeting with Polish President Lech Kaczynski, Victor Yushchenko said he was convinced the Odessa-Brody-Plock-Gdansk oil pipeline project was relevant to national interests of both Ukraine and Poland, being “one of the most interesting projects on the European wholesale oil market.” He believes it includes a few subprojects. The Head of State reiterated that at the moment it was possible to annually transport up to two million tons of oil from Brody to the Mozyr refinery in Belarus. The sides are also considering ways to transport oil to a refinery in the Czech Republic, the President press office informed.

Yushchenko said Ukraine and Kazakhstan, which is developing the Pivdenny oil terminal, had agreed to jointly build a pipeline from Pivdenny to Odessa.

The President also reminded those present that a protocol to build a two-billion-dollar oil-refinery in Brody had been signed a few months ago.
