Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk considers that Turkmenistan’s statements concerning Ukraine’s debts can be explained by Turkmenistan unwillingness to meet obligations on gas supply.

Tarasyuk reported that according to information of the Ukrainian delegation headed by Minister for Fuel and Energy Ivan Plachkov, the parties have different opinions as for gas payments.

“Our side states that we don’t have debts, named by Turkmenistan. On the other hand, there are grounds to say that Turkmenistan part starts to abandon agreements. It is the very case when best defense is offence. Turkmenistan accuses Ukraine to justify its default concerning gas deliveries,” said the Minister

According to him, Turkmenistan has made contracts with Russian and Ukrainian companies on gas volume two times more than it can export.

At the same time Tarasyuk noted that if Ukraine is in debt to Turkmenistan, it needs to pay.
