In his address to the Verkhovna Rada President of Ukraine mentioned that Ukraine had taken a number of positive steps, which improves its international status, ForUm’s correspondent reported.

The President reminded that Ukraine had obtained the status of country with market economy, made progress in fulfilling Action Plan “Ukraine-EU”, started negotiations about simplification of visa regime.

Among the further steps within the Eurointegration Yushchenko mentioned creation of free trade zones with the EU in 2007 and signing of European agreement on associations in 2008. According to him, having accomplished these tasks Ukraine should become a full member of the EU.

“At bilateral and multilateral level Ukraine will continue using potential of strategic partnership with the Russian Federation and support mutually beneficial relations with other neighboring countries,” noted the President.

Yushchenko also considers that “2005 year may be easily entered on the side of cooperation with Ukraine’s partners, such as the USA, Poland and Romania.”
