Victor Yushchenko called on Ukrainians to honor the Kruty heroes, the President's press service informed.

“Today is one of those days when we should stop and forget all vanities of this world and bow our heads,” he said in a special address.

The President is convinced that January 29, 1918 was a unique page of our history “which bears a colossal emotional and historic load.”

“I am convinced: however many years pass, Ukrainians will still remember the events of that period. It inspires us to live and create,” he asserted.

“Our government and people should together defend Ukraine’s national interests. I urge all our politicians to be tolerant and ask our citizens to be wise. Our unity gives us might,” he concluded.
