Victor Yushchenko sent a greeting telegram to participants of this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, the President's press office told.

“Davos is a unique place where leading politicians, entrepreneurs and public figures from all over the world can have a dialogue. We all aim to explore new directions and forms of regional and global cooperation,” he said.

The President reiterated that Ukraine had undergone profound changes in the past year.

“Our new government has created civilized conditions for business. We reduced import duties and removedmany bureaucratic obstacles in relations between government and business. We also try to more effectively prevent contraband. Entrepreneurs start to legalize their businesses and the state encourages fair competition,” he asserted.

The Head of State claimed that these moves had resulted in the improvement of the investment climate.

“The public Kryvorizhstal auction is one example of this [ improvement ],” he said.

Yushchenko emphasized another aspect of Ukraine’s relations with international partners, “Ukraine has proved that it is a reliable part of Europe’s energy security. It has always been and will be a stable and predictable energy transporter.”

He assured all that, as President of Ukraine, he would closely work with foreign investors.

“By doing so we want to make our partners trust us. I am convinced that Ukraine will get rid of stereotypes and acquire a reputation for being a strong and confident team player in the international arena. This team is the world’s democratic community,” he concluded.
