Secretary of Security Council of Russia Igor Ivanov considers that Ukrainian-Russian gas conflict, problems with cattle-breeding production and other difficulties in relations between two countries should not be called a “cold war”.

“I think that to apply labels of the past century to modern relations between separate states is wrongfully. Our relations can be characterized as partnership of friendly neighbouring states,” stated Ivanov during the joint press conference with Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Anatoly Kinakh after their meeting in Kyiv.

At the same time he does not deny presence of problems, but considers that “these difficulties should be solved by means of normal and equal in rights negotiations, taking into account interest of both sides.”

In his turn, Ukraine’s NSDC Secretary Anatoly Kinakh noted that he considers it extremely important that two independent states improve methods for defending national, economic and political interests.
