Signing of gas contracts between Ukraine and Russia is deferred (updated)

Scheduled on January 21, visit of Gazprom’s delegation to Ukraine, during which it was planned to sign all gas documents with Russia, has been deferred for Wednesday, January 25, approximately, as reported Lylya Klochko, press secretary of Minister for Fuel and Energy Ivan Plachkov, UNIAN informed.

Russia and Ukraine have deferred the signing of the documents on creation of the joint company which was provided by the gas agreement of January 4.

Besides, Gazrom official spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov speaking at Echo of Moscow’s live broadcast informed that “Ukrainian side decided to do some more work concerning the documents.” According to his words, “the documents are very serious and take much time for preparation” that’s why the signing has been put off for the future.

Commenting on the event, Ukraine’s PM Yuri Yekhanurov said, “Unfortunately, we could not manage to prepare the documents.” He added that the visit was postponed till January 25, 2006.
