The President is presiding over a meeting of the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the President's press office. They are going to discuss Ukraine’s difficult political and social situation and ways to neutralize its impact on political and economic processes. Opening the meeting, Victor Yushchenko pointed out that they would first discuss the gas issue, “illegal sacking of the cabinet” and “assets of the Black Sea fleet and their use under the existing agreements.” He noted that all these processes had negatively affected the country.

The Head of State stressed that today “political and public forces need to actively discuss issues that directly influence political stability in the country.”

“If we do not oppose Ukraine, we must carry out uniting policies,” he said.

The NSDCU members also plan to discuss ways to make the fight against socially dangerous diseases more efficient and to conduct a multinational military exercise in Ukraine in 2006.
