Sich-3 satellite equipped with novel radar and optical devices launches the new era of Ukrainian space exploration, Eduard Kuznetsov, deputy general director of the National Space Agency told.
According to information furnished to Ukrainian and foreign experts, the Sich-2 satellite will be launched as well as its “ancestor.” The Sich-1 satellite, Ukraine's first domestically designed and made spacecraft, was launched on August 31, 1995 from the Plesetsk Space Range in the North of Russia.
Since October 10, 1995 the Sich-1 was monitored and controlled from the National Centre of tracking and testing space vehicles in Crimea, Ukrainian Radio told. The launch of the Sich-1 made Ukraine a space-capable nation. It was the first spacecraft, which Ukraine launched to create the Sich system of our planet's surveillance.
