Victor Yushchenko said yesterday’s resolution of the Verkhovna Rada to sack the government was an attempt to politicize economic issues, presidential press office reported.

“What happened in parliament yesterday has nothing in common with a bilateral agreement on gas supplies. It must be one of the ways to politicize what is not political,” he said during a joint press conference with Vladimir Putin in Astana.

The President opined that such politicization can “harm those wonderful results.” Yushchenko reiterated that he appreciated the gas agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

“I assure you that we have managed to reach a political and economic compromise,” he said.
