Kyiv city council is worried
by real threat of increase of gas and electricity charges for population. The
council has worked out a complex of top-priority measures in order not to allow
groundless price rise, which will result in abrupt tariff increase for heating,
water supply and drainage system service, increase of fare, and in general will
lead to decline in living standards of Kyiv citizens.
According to the press
office of Kyiv city state administration, the council decided to appeal Ukrainian
parliament with a request to charge Cabinet of Ministers to supply gas of Ukraine’s gas
production to Ukrainian population only at prices, established for January 1,
2006. Additionally, it is recommended to forbid National energy commission and
Naftogaz to increase prices for gas and electricity for population.
Executive body of Kyiv city
council is charged with development of city program concerning energy saving
and city balance of gas consumption, taking into account reduction of gas use.
As a reminder, the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
recommended the government not to increase gas and electricity charges for
population. VR Chairman Volodimir Lytvyn considers that owners of large-scale
enterprises, which work with gas, must compensate increased gas price for Ukraine at the
expense of their own over-incomes.
