Justice Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Holovaty is definitely sure that Ukrainian-Russian agreement of January 4, 2006 is only the agreement of intentions.

Commenting on the last events in the air of 5 Channel, Holovaty mentioned that it was private legal agreement between commercial structures. Ukraine was represented by the state juridical person and Russia – by the private company.

“It is a civil act,” stressed the Minister. He also declared that thorough analysis of this document let him state that it was an agreement of intentions rather than the final agreement regulating mutual relations in this sphere. The agreement does not contain any specific obligations and reads about actions which the parties plan to do. According to this document, the parties must sign the real agreement which will regulate the cooperation of the participants of the deal.

“That is why to treat the current agreement as the real legal international document of the governmental level is the legal ignorance,” said Holovaty commenting on the “political speculations” of some parliamentary factions which stood for dismissal of Oleksiy Ivchenko from the post of Naftogaz president.

As a reminder, it was Naftogaz President Oleksiy Ivchenko who signed the corresponding agreement.
