Ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Timoshenko stated on air of Inter TV-channel that the reason for the gas conflict between Russia and Ukraine is completely political, and that the initiators of the conflict come from the Ukrainian side, Russia just uses the situation. According to Timoshenko, crisis started much earlier, and one must blame ex-President Kuchma, his ex-Prime Minister Yanukovich and ex-head of Naftogaz Ukraine Yuri Boyko, who introduced a powerful middleman in gas relation between Russia, Ukraine and Turkmenistan, REGNUM informed.
According to Timoshenko, in 2005 RosUkrEnergo received 20 billion cubic meters of gas worth $2.5 billion for their actions. “If we remove this structure, we receive 20 billion cubic meters of gas that we will not have to buy from Russia. So we must dissolve the contract with RosUkrEnergo as soon as possible,” stated ex-Prime Minister.
She also said, that Russia destroys Ukraine because the Ukrainian government is still based on corruption, and without this back door treachery, our little fortress could be impenetrable."
