The Chairman of the Electorate Committee Ihor Popov opening the press conference “The First Month of the Election Campaign through the Eyes of the KIU observers” reckons that the parliamentary elections-2006 will be observed by quite large number of the civil organizations.

The Committee worries about possible biased position of the observers towards one or another political party. He informs that the Committee may share its experience and materials concerning the proper observation for the elections or conduct trainings in order to establish right standards of the observation.

According to Popov, there are 70 civil organizations and 24 out of them handed the applications to the Committee. The rules of the registration for the observers provide for two-year existence of the organizations and its statute must include corresponding tasks for the observation.

December 28 was the deadline for the organization to hand in the applications.
