Foreign Minister of Egypt Ahmed Aboul Gheit on behalf of his country confirmed the willingness to back Ukraine on the way to the WTO.

Such statement was made after the negotiations with Ukrainian counterpart Borys Tarasyuk who officially visited Egypt. The Exterior Ministers discussed the possibility of concluding the protocol on market of goods and services access which is necessary for Ukraine to become a member of the WTO. “The experts work on it,” added Gheit.

Tarasyuk, in turns, said that the satellite Egypt Sat-1 would be launched and the construction of Egypt Sat-2 would be started in the first quarter of 2006. Ukrainian Minister told the satellites were made by mutual efforts of two countries - Ukraine and Egypt, UNIAN reported. He invited Ahmed Aboul Gheit to visit Ukraine.

The parts stressed the necessity to continue the political dialogue and agreed to hold the next round of political consultation between ministries of two countries.

Foreign Minister of Egypt wished Ukrainian tourists visit his country more often.

Ministers signed the protocol on exchange of the official documents touching upon the ratification of the agreement between Egypt and Ukraine on criminal extradition of 2004; the Memorandum on mutual understanding between Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Communication and Egypt’s Ministry of Communication and Information regulating the cooperation in the field of post services.
