Victor Yushchenko is sure democratic forces will win next year’s elections, as he declared during today's press conference.
“I am convinced that democratic forces will win. I have no doubt they will. They have the majority in this campaign,” he said.
The President, however, admitted that “the formula of their consolidation is obviously not very simple.”
“Unfortunately, many democratic forces lacked political wisdom and sagacity to consolidate before the campaign,” he regretted. “It is sad that these dozens of parties failed to compromise.”
The Head of State thinks that in few weeks democratic forces will reach agreements over principles of the campaign and such important values as Ukraine’s EU integration, participation in a Single Economic Area, national security and budget issues.
“This is a mild version of consolidation that will be easily supported by the overwhelming majority of these forces. I find it important to formulate an agreement that would regulate a future parliamentary coalition,” Yushchenko said.
He added that there would be no revenge of the former regime: “This revenge is impossible because we are not speaking about the persons but about the values.”
