Negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian governmental delegations have started in Moscow. After a short protocol meeting, attended by the mass media, the negotiations shifted to a "closed mode" and the journalists were told no press conference would follow.

The Ukrainian delegation, headed by Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov, is staffed by Economy Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of the national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy Oleksiy Ivchenko and Fuel and Energy Minister Ivan Plachkov. The Russian delegation is represented by Premier Mikhail Fradkov and Minister for Industry and Energy Viktor Khristenko.

As Russian PM noted at the beginning, he was constantly in touch with Yuri Yekhanurov via telephone and said he hopes to settle all issues during the personal meeting. He aired his hope that the Moscow negotiations would positively influence the conflict.
